This spell can only be cast between sunset and dawn. You call out to a nearby spirit: a long-dead king, a newly-dead party member, etc. Roll 1d6 for the power of the seance, modified by the following:
≤ 1 | Spirit lashes out in annoyance. Caster takes 2d6 damage |
2 | Spirit cannot be put down. Will try to possess a nearby corpse or attack incorporeally |
3 | Wrong spirit is called. It may be more or less helpful |
4 | Spirit is called, answers are mocking and cruel |
5 | Spirit is called, answers questions truthfully |
6 | Spirit remains for an additional 1d6 minutes |
> 6 | Spirit can be given a single-word command before departing |
Modifiers
+1 for every [dice] | -1 per Grit Dice |
+1 if the spirit died within a week | -1 if the spirit was a magician |
+1 if the spirit is restless | -1 if the spirit is angry with you |
+1 if the spirit’s True Name is known | -2 if only vague details are known |
+1 if you personally knew the creature | -4 if the spirit was a necromancer |
